Building Frameworks for Sustainable Education in India
Issues,Challenges and Way Forward
July 18, 2017,4pm to 7:30pm | Auditorium Artemis Hospital, Sector-51,Gurugram,Haryana
Despite all the administrative framework, NGOs, foundations and corporate initiatives in the education sector in the last decade, India still is a long way off from the goal of ‘universal education’. A UN survey shows we are 50 years away from it. To be sure, the fund inflow into education has doubled in the last five years as also the number of education-based organisations. And yet, performance in education are dismal. In Haryana, for instance, the pass percentage in the Tenth Board exam in 2017 was just 50 per cent. There are a host of reasons for the poor show from lack of infrastructure, inadequate number of teachers and growing absenteeism among students.
One of the solutions is more effective collaboration between different stakeholders in the education sector. Towards this objective, Shikshanjali EduTech Consulting and Gurgaon First are organising a workshop to foster collaboration among the various stakeholders in the education sector – the Government, education-based NGOs, corporates having CSR in education, educationists and social entrepreneurs.
The collaborative workshop will focus on spelling out the issues and challenges, role of different stakeholders and mapping out sustainable goals in a spirit of collaborative action and support. The outcome of the workshop will be presented to the Government as an action point document, to be supported in execution by Shikshanjali and partners.
The half-day workshop will begin at 4:30pm and conclude by 7pm with high tea. It will have views of the Haryana Government, NGO leaders, CSR heads, education experts over a panel discussion. It will seek opinions from the audience on challenges and issues, probable solutions and way forward through interactive discussions. The entire process will be collaborative and participative. This is the first step leading to more intense engagements with stakeholders and focus groups in future.
All stakeholders involved with the state education sector including Government education departments, education-based NGOs companies with a focus on education as CSR and educationists.
There is no fee to attend the workshop. Pre-registration is mandatory. To register for the workshop, kindly send us a mail at teamgurgaonfirst@gmail.com or call at 0124-4259827 confirming names, organisation and emails of participants.
